Can You Run Your Company from an iPad? If not, you may want to read this.

Can you run your whole organization from your iPad or laptop? Can you see everything that's going on in real time from all your systems with a single application? Are you able to change your business processes on the fly without involving IT, coding or programming? Are you able to leverage the data in your enterprise intelligently or do you still have silos in your IT ecosystem?

If you've answered "No" to any of the above questions, you might want to keep reading and see what's possible.

There's an entirely new form of technology called iBPMS. (Intelligent Business Process Management) This technology is the latest and smartest evolution of BPM software which has been around for quite some time. The difference is the "Intelligent" component of iBPMS that places it light years ahead of anything else. iBPMS is a suite of intelligent modules including Robotic Process Automation that provides companies with a meaningful and intelligent digital transformation. (To see a video of Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella talking about our iBPMS, visit MindXtract.com)

An intelligent system consolidates all the data in an enterprise and utilizes it to not only provide better information for the user but also to allow the creation of intelligent processes that leverage data in real time. In other words, a system that takes into account all of the data in an organization and uses that data intelligently in every business process. Let's say you have an ERP system and 65 different software solutions. Our iBPMS will integrate with all of them and leverage all their data in a single solution and then use it intelligently across the enterprise.

One client described our solution as "One Ring to Rule them all." (Obviously a Tolkien fan)

In this post, we will address only 2 challenges that are common to almost all businesses:

(More challenges will be addressed in upcoming posts.)

Challenge #1: Your Information Resides in Silos

Most businesses today are not able to view all their data from one application. Users must log into several different systems in order to perform their work or to gather and analyze information.

Here's an example:

The leadership of the ABC Company meets monthly to review what's going in the company. The COO gives his updates about operations, the CFO gives her updates about the financials, the VP of HR says his bit about workforce requirements etc. etc. etc.

They're all sitting around a conference table with their laptops open and the latest reports that they've pulled out of SAP or Oracle or whatever systems they've got. They share their information at the conference table and discuss what the company needs to do etc. This is how it's done in most companies today and it's a horribly outdated and inefficient model. It's redundant. If your company operates this way, then you are years behind. Sorry but that's the reality.

Let me explain why:

In the example above, all of the various leaders are using data that is out of date and heavily biased. Even if the reports were created an hour before the meeting, the information is out of date. It isn't live information. It's also biased. Why? Because it is being interpreted and shared by humans who aren't capable of analyzing all of the data points or make correlations that are required to have accurate and actionable information. As wonderful as humans are, we lack this ability. We rely on numerous systems to provide us with meaningful insights and data and that's part of the problem: numerous systems sitting in numerous silos.

Example: Your CFO cannot tell you instantly what the financial impact is to your organization of changing a single step in your drilling or logistics process. He or she would have to do a study of some sort and even when the study had been done, the information would be horribly out of date. This also assumes that the CFO and her/his team would be able to identify, quantify and measure the impacts to the areas across the business.

Our solution can tell you exactly what the impact to the company would be of changing any element of your business processes and it can do it instantly. The solution can also make intelligent decisions and execute processes defined by the business, all without the need for human intervention.

Individual systems may provide excellent information but is all of that information being brought together and used intelligently? If your answer is "No" then we can help you. We can provide you with a single solution that will eliminate the silos and give you a complete view of all of your data, from all of your systems, in real time, on your iPad, laptop or any other web enabled device.

We solve Challenge #1 with ease.

Challenge #2: Intelligent Control of Business Processes

Can you change your company's processes simply by picking up an iPad or laptop and making changes on the fly? Without coding or programming? (Any process performed by systems or by people.)

I can answer that for you. The answer is "No" unless you've got iBPMS.

Let's look at the difference between BPM and iBPMS:

Many businesses utilize BPM software. The technology has done a remarkable job of improving efficiencies and standardizing processes. It's been a game changer in many ways but BPM has some very real limitations.

Every BPM software on the market requires coding or programming. This means that if you want to make changes to your business processes, you've got to involve IT, get someone to do the coding and wait until the job is done before the new process can go live in your enterprise. This is a tedious and lengthy undertaking.

Once the new or modified process is live in the enterprise, can you simulate it with realistic and statistical models to see what impact the changes will have on the whole organization? Again, the answer is "No" unless you have iBPMS.

With normal BPM software your new or modified process will go live and then it has to be run for a while before you can pull a report to see what effect it's had on your organization. Wouldn't it be nice to test a process in a live environment using your own data to see what effect it will have on the business BEFORE you go live with it? With iBPMS you can.

We solve Challenge #2 with ease.

There are also BPM products on the market with pre-designed templates. A "Procurement, Finance and Logistics Processes in a Box" type of thing. These require coding or programming in order to make changes and they are not intelligent systems. The idea behind this type of BPM is for a company to use templates like a pre-designed procurement process for example. Companies either do business according to the pre-designed template or they have to engage a programmer/coder to change it to fit their business... or at least attempt to make it fit the business. Is your business the same as every other business? If it isn't, then why would you even consider using a pre-designed template type of solution?

ERP systems with BPM are another nightmare entirely. To modify anything in an ERP solution to fit your business is not only very expensive, it's also a very time consuming endeavor. Without naming names, almost all of us are familiar with some very big brands and the endless number of large checks your company must write to have consultants make changes to the system. Also, once you start modifying ERP's, you can't do an upgrade without serious repercussions. Very expensive repercussions.

(Our iBPMS is not a replacement for ERP systems. We do however have native integration with all ERP systems. Our iBPMS works with your ERP so that you can maximize its potential instead of it being a stand-alone that doesn't interact with the entirety of your IT ecosystem.)

Here's the BIG difference between iBPMS and BPM software: with iBPMS, anyone (who is authorized) can change their company's processes by simply dragging and dropping the steps of the workflow and hitting "Save." It's really that easy. The programming is instantly created in the background and goes live in the enterprise once the changes have been created and saved.... All from your iPad or laptop. Add in the Robotic Process Automation and you have a truly intelligent system.

You can literally run your company from a Starbucks at the airport with your iPad.

That's pretty Intelligent isn't it?

With iBPMS, each step of a business process leverages the data in your enterprise and everything in the enterprise is measured in real time. This gives the user complete organizational control all the way down to the smallest of processes, allows for changes to be made on the fly and provides the user with a complete view of the entire organization's data from ONE application. The only solution that can do all of this is the iBPMS from AuraPortal.

So the answer to the question is this:

YES- you can run your whole company from an iPad. You can make instant changes to what people and systems do, see how they're performing in real time and you can do it all from your iPad, laptop or phone without a single line of code.
